Helicobacter pyroli -Abdominal pain

Posted on

Helicobacter pylori are spiral-shaped bacteria that grow in the digestive tract and have a tendency to attack the stomach lining. infections are usually harmless, but these are responsible for the majority of ulcers in the stomach and small intestine. They cause peptic ulcers and gastritis.

These bacteria can change the environment around them and reduce its acidity so they can survive in the stomach. The shape of Helicobacter pylori allows them to penetrate the stomach lining, where they are protected by mucus and the body’s immune cells do not reach them. The bacteria can interfere with the immune response and ensure that they’re not destroyed. They can spread through contaminated food or water. The infection risk increases in overcrowded housing, inaccessible to hot water and living in a developing country. Symptoms include bloating, nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, foul breath, abdominal pain. It can be reduced by taking antacid.
